High molecular weight polyethylene, also referred to as HMWPE or PE500, is generally supplied in sheet form already planed to close tolerances and can perform at temperatures as low as -50ºC. It also boasts a higher wear resistance than the more economical high density polyethylene giving it a wider range of applications within all aspects of industry.High molecular weight polyethylene is widely used for its impact resistance in applications such as cutting boards, fenders, hand rails and protection strips where repeated impact is expected.
