Acrylic rod maintains the workability of acrylic sheet in a round form. There are two different manufacturing methods used for making acrylic rod.
The first is by casting the acrylic into the required rod diameter - this is called cast acrylic rod and gives the best optical finish available. Additionally, cast acrylic rod offers a range of large diameters up to 200mm.
The second method of manufacture is by extruding the acrylic into the required rod diameter - this is called extruded acrylic rod and provides an economical alternative to cast acrylic where aesthetic finish is less crucial, but the diameters available are limited to a maximum of 40mm. (Note Extruded acrylic rod is not suitable for machining.)
